Embracing the AKU Test Retake:

The AKU test has always been a daunting experience, and going through it twice makes it even more intimidating. With the retest just a few days away, it is crucial to know how to make the most of these last couple of days. In this blog, we will share ways to utilize your time effectively and provide tips that we learned from our own experience to help you excel in the test.

Don’t Give Up:

We know that the issues that occurred with the first test, and the sudden subsequent retake announcement would have dampened some of your spirits. It has surely been an overwhelming experience for all the AKU aspirants. We understand that you must all be confused, tired, and anxious as the day of the exam approaches nearer, and you would be justified in feeling that way. However, despite these emotions, we urge you to not give up. Maintain unwavering faith in your abilities. Do not let external events affect your true potential.

Cutting to The Chase - Tips and Tricks:

In the last few days left before the exam, there is always a plethora of advice about what to do and what not to do. All the so-called “exam management strategies” end up being multi-paged walls of texts that make you feel like you are either reading a boring novel, or like you are about to go out for war. In this blog, we will do our best to keep the discussion very short and concise, all the while ensuring that we keep things more interesting.

1. Attempt questions:

In these last couple of days, do not waste your time cramming bookish content. As it is a retest, you are prepared well enough. Focus on just practicing as many questions as you can. Even if it feels like you are not prepared, we would still advise you to start practicing questions. Go through all the relevant, AKU-oriented questions and AKU Mock Tests. Remember, practice is always the key! This approach will help familiarize you with the test's structure and pattern. You can attempt AKU Mock Tests on MedAngle Premed for FREE!

2. Target Weak Areas:

While practicing questions, you'll automatically identify any of your weak points. Dedicate some time to revising these topics and reinforcing your concepts. This focused effort will enhance your overall performance.

3. Maintain Positivity and Balance:

Do not underestimate the importance of a positive mindset. Remember, a test does not dictate your entire life's trajectory. Eat well, sleep sufficiently, remain calm, and pray for strength. Positive thinking coupled with hard work is a winning combination. Like our elders always say, "Mehnat aur duaa kabhi raigan nahi jaati" (Hard work and prayer never go in vain).

The Haunted Friday:

Do you also get goosebumps the day before an important test? This kind of anticipation is truly nerve-wracking. Your mind is in a mixed state of emotions – confused, worried, anxious, and going through self-doubt. You keep revising the same topics again and again, and the sight of your books makes you feel nervous. The last day can certainly be tough, and it is totally okay to feel that way. So, here is what we suggest: Take a break. Just take a deep breath, and stay calm. If you wish to keep preparing, then feel free to do so, but try not to overdo it. Try to answer some questions and quickly go through important study material. Our Review Guides can be of great help in this regard. Always keep in mind that you can not learn everything in just one day. What you can do is, make sure you understand the things you have already learned, really well. Go to bed early at night, wake up in the morning feeling fresh, try to have a good breakfast, and be on your way. Remember to arrive at your exam center at least an hour prior.

The Big Day, Again:

As the clock ticks closer to the second opportunity of sitting for the AKU Test, let's delve into how effective time management can be your secret weapon in this journey.

Starting with Science:

Begin by tackling the Science questions. Take a quick glance at all the questions to get a sense of what is ahead. Then, focus on the ones that seem more manageable. Answering these first will boost your confidence and prevent unnecessary mark deductions.

Strategic Question Skipping:

If you encounter a particularly difficult or confusing question, stay calm. Simply skip it and return later, if time permits. Time is of the essence here, so use it wisely.

Navigating Math and Logic:

In the Math and Scientific Reasoning sections, there is good news – no negative marking! This means you can attempt every question, even if you're uncertain about the answer. It is like having a free shot.

Strategic Time Allocation:

During the test, manage your time smartly. Divide it among the different sections. Avoid rushing; take it step by step. If a question is challenging, do not let it consume your time – skip it and return later if possible.

The Bubble Sheet:

As the test's conclusion nears, allocate around 5-7 minutes to carefully fill in the answer bubbles on the answer sheet.

A Final Note:

Remember, you're not alone on this journey. Every question, every hurdle, takes you closer to your dream. Embrace the experience, the effort, and perhaps even the touch of nervousness. Let these elements fuel your determination. And when it's all over, you will have a story of triumph to share. Remember, you have put in all the effort you could, so trust in that and leave the rest to the Higher Power. Let us reiterate, what is bound to happen, will happen (or in more gen-Z terms, “it is what it is”) and you do not need to worry so long as you have done your best!

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Best of luck from all of us here at Premed by MedAngle!
